Helpie Server Second Siege
BludBender of Blackbeards ascending the Throne post Siege
Last week was the second Stonegard Castle Siege event for the Helpie server and one thing is clear, the PvP scene here on Helpie is healthier than ever! This battle was unlike anything Helpie has seen so far. We’ve grown from 2 major powers dominating the server to 3 powerhouses brawling for supremacy with several new stars on the rise. While Blackbeard won, it was neck in neck the entire time. Several of the major Guilds were not even at full capacity and with the newly formed alliances, I am excited to see how things play out over the coming weeks.
The battle began with the Let Us alliance (now known as the World Gov) attacking the west while The Fleet attacked the east. The Fleet started strong by using the Battle Carrier Golem to climb the wall and challenge Privateers on the ramparts. After an intense back and forth, Privateers reminded us why they’re rank 1 and pushed the invaders back outside the walls. Skirmishes continued in the field for a while until the wall was broken.
With the walls breached, attackers poured in and the battle of the streets began. Control over the pillage points and resurrection zones were hotly contested by multiple guilds inside and outside of the major alliances. During the chaos BludBender managed to take control of the Gate Hammer Golem and used it to single handedly breach the inner gate while Privateers fought the attackers for control of Pillage Point 3.
Now the fighting poured into the courtyard with Privateers, Let Us Cook, and The Fleet fighting for control over the resurrection zones. Blackbeard claimed the Dungeon Resurrection Zone and used that point to stage an all out assault on the throne, taking control with 18 minutes remaining. I had the privilege of speaking with TheBatman of Straw Hats and Bludbender of Blackbeard who told us that while it was tense, they focused on keeping their cool. Through precise teamwork and communication they coordinated their CC and held back wave after wave of the strongest players NA East has to offer. We saw Alliances like Let Us and Privateers regroup for coordinated assaults, but the friction between them and the iron defense of The Fleet prevailed.
But the defense was not impregnable. Let Us Cook showed their strength and took the lead from Blackbeard, throwing the Siege into overtime. Let Us Cook fought like hell but with 1 minute left Blackbeard pulled off a clutch play using chain hook to isolate and execute Sylas of Let Us Cook to stop their claim.
Blackbeard now sits upon the Throne of Helpie Server. Rising from newcomer to Legion in the span of a week is an incredible feat, and I for one cannot wait to see what they do next. With the dust settled, I want to look back and take stock of our servers’ performance. It will come as no surprise alliances like Privateers and Let Us Cook dominated the leaderboards putting up 5,618 and 7,505 kills respectively. That said, the 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th positions were all occupied by new blood to the server making their debut. The Fleet as an alliance secured 6,963 kills while Let Us alliance newest members CapyBorpas and Peacock dropped 3,359 kills. With fresh talent such as this the future is anything but certain.
Honorable Mentions
There are other honorable mentions too. xSPARTANZx has been on the server less than a week and managed to secure over 40,000 lucent from Pillage zones. FistoftheEmpire managed to contest the Throne, and SurfsUp managed to hold the resurrection points for over 7 minutes. Guilds like SkinSnakes, GEAR, and LotD put up a hell of a fight throughout the war as well as causing chaos amidst the attackers.
And that should be no surprise to veterans of the Helpie server. In the first siege we saw LotDx, SkinSnakes, Legionnaires, and Latin Knights decide to work together to sabotage the Let Us Cook alliance. With this unofficial mega-alliance, PvP on Helpie started to become stale. But everything changed with the introduction of Peacock, CapyBorpas, Straw Hats, Blackbeard, Cross Guild, Grand Fleet, and Spartanz who transferred in the week of Thanksgiving and started making a name for themselves immediately. Straw Hats, Blackbeard, Cross Guild, and Grand Fleet formed The Fleet alliance while Peacock and CapyBorpas joined the Let Us Cook alliance.
There is a LOT of up and coming talent on Helpie right now. Each of the Guilds I interviewed stated that they felt that their performance came down to the entire team with each member showing up and performing head and shoulders above what you could expect. Cohesion and communication seems to be what made the difference today. After speaking with everyone it’s clear that the future of Helpie is bright. I will be keeping an eye on the upcoming GvGs and looking forward to the battleground feature coming soon.
If anything I’ve stated is inaccurate please let me know. I am very new to this and am still learning the ropes. To everyone who competed, well done.
